OUTREACH
Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves. We do that both locally and globally. Southern Hills strives to be a community that shares God's love to the Hi Crest Community in which we are planted. This then radiates outwards.
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, shares God’s love and compassion for all in the name of Christ by responding to basic human needs and working for peace and justice.
Southern Hills Church originated from young Voluntary Service people sent to Topeka by MCC to serve in the Topeka State Hospital in 1949. Later MCC sent young Mennonite conscientious objectors to perform their I-W alternative service in hospitals and mental health facilities. To this day, Southern Hill continues the tradition of peace and service.
We support MCC with an annual quilt and baked goods (peppernuts) for the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale – A benefit for Mennonite Central Committee (mccsale.org).
